ABOUT ME (TY HARVEY)

I grew up in a tiny Texas town, where in my teens I met and worked with a scarcely known folk sculptor who showed me what life looks like when you put creative expression at the center of your world.  A few years later, with my heart set on being a poet, I moved to Austin, finished my degree at UT, and set out traveling, as I believed a poet should do. Throughout the years, I surrounded myself with the most creative minds I could find, and eventually found myself writing arts and culture articles - first while living in Tokyo, and then in New York City - before spending years in the creative department of a global fashion merchandising brand, where I realized my life had taken a horribly wrong turn. So I threw it all away and started over.

I found myself back in Austin after over a decade, this time as a bartender with an undying love for poetics and a newfound vision for curation as a creative endeavor in and of itself. I hosted experimental classical music showcases funded by the city, released multiple creative publishing projects covered by KUT and the Austin Chronicle, and hosted intimate food-and-drink events around items like sticks from grave sites, meteors, and ancient artifacts, as I continue to do.

These endeavors have led me to a life I’m very fond of, one centered around exploring and experimenting with new ways art, food, and drinks can be curated for others. I invite you to be a part of it.
